Peer Mentor Welcome
The Kearney Center works with a fantastic team of International Orientation Peer Mentors. They are students just like yourself, who have experienced what it’s like to arrive in the U.S. and start a new life journey! You will receive their help to complete necessary steps and their advice to have a successful start.
This week’s featured Orientation Lead Peer Mentor is John Shrestha from Nepal. John is a junior (a third-year student) pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Lead Peer Mentors supervise a team of peer mentors to make sure Orientation Week runs smoothly. John has gained a lot of peer mentoring experience and demonstrates his dedication, warmth and enthusiasm for serving new students every time. He says, “I have served as a peer mentor starting in my second semester. So, in total, it must be 5 times including Fall 2020. The thing I like about being a part of this team is meeting new people and knowing about their cultures and tradition.”
Since student peer mentors have already spent time studying at MSU, Mankato, they have lots of advice and always glad to share it with you. John’s advice to you is to “Explore MSU and the opportunities it provides to you as a student.” That’s right, there are many resources around campus to help you and ways to get involved and feel at home. Meet John at your orientation in January! |
