Peer Mentor Welcome
The Kearney Center works with a team of international student peer mentors to help you complete needed steps when you arrive as a new student and have a successful start. This week’s featured peer mentor is Eunjeong (Gloria) Lee. Gloria shares what she has enjoyed about peer mentoring, as well as some advice for you!
Hi, I'm Gloria (Eungyeong) Lee from South Korea and studying in Psychology. I transferred to MNSU last Fall semester. I have been twice as an international student peer mentor for Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 International Student Orientation. My favorite part of being a peer mentor is helping others and making friends. I also got so much help and support from Minnesota State Mankato staff, friends, and faculty and I felt exactly the same when I arrived here the first time. I want to be a helpful person for new students and that's the main reason why I have been an orientation peer mentor. Also, I could meet friends from all over the world and share cultures and experiences. It is always one of my precious memories.
Advice: I really recommend that new Mavs reach out and use the Kearney Center, staff, peer mentors, or any resources if you need help or have questions. We are ready to help you gladly. Don't hesitate about it. I know it is sometimes difficult and embarrassing to ask for help, but just ask anything, there are no silly questions. Please contact and ask for resources as the Kearney Center staff, current students, peer mentor, MGA, or more. Plus, you should prepare warm clothes and shoes for Minnesota winter if you come here for the Spring semester. :)
